We are pleased to announce that a new team member has just joined us hear at the Prairie
Poet's website! He is Larry Gleeson, a former Art History professor, will bring insights and critical comments about western movies, movie history, and behind the scenes stories, only known by “insiders.” Larry Gleeson grew up watching B-Westerns on Saturday afternoons at the Boulevard Theater in Minneapolis. With earnings from his paper route, he began collecting movies in the early 1950s. Later as a college professor of Art History, he taught occasional film courses like Art of the Silent Film. Now he watches movies on the ten-foot screen in his home theater in Buena Vista, Colorado.
We welcome Larry and look forward to “Western Movie Wisdom,” from this professional. Larry will select top westerns, to critique, on a to-be-announced basis. So, visit us often and please extend a “Hand shake across the miles,” to Larry Gleeson. You may take a look at this new feature by selecting the Western Movies Menu or selecting Western Movies. This month Larry discusses the movie entitled, "Will Penny" starring Charlton Heston, Joan Hackett, and Donald Pleasence.

This month the Prairie Poet has introduced a new menu item that is being called a "Special Feature." It is special because it will change every month or two to reflect what is of special interest to our readers. Let us know if you like the new feature by contacting us at our new facebook page. The Poem of the Month for May is entitled, "MOTHER'S DAY." In this poem the Prairie Poet attempts to determin what would be an appropriate gift for Mother on her special day.
The Prairie Poet continues to interview up a storm here in 2011addresses. The latest interviews are with Billy Love, a long time resident of the Colorado West, and Jim Jasper, Administrator of the Arkansas Valley Art Center. Also, appearing for the first time is a short document, written by Randy Wagner, about a brown bear hunt in the Alaskan wilds. Randy's discussion helps to tell the story of the first people who came west and their search for food and shelter. Another recent interview is with Paul Douglas, PhD a ranch manager, guide/outfitter, and bed and breakfast operator up in Big Sky Country and the Badlands of North Dakota. Paul's story is very interesting in that it follows the changes in the west that have taken place over the past years. Go to the "Across the Fence" Page to enjoy both of these interviews. In addition, keep an eye open for more interviews coming soon.
